A hiker discovered a dead body Tuesday afternoon while walking in the Tenafly Nature Center, authorities said.

Officers from the Tenafly Police Department were called to the nature preserve around 2 p.m., found the body and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Jeff Angermeyer, deputy chief of detectives for the office told NJ Advance Media.

Angermeyer said the incident was still under investigation by his office and the department as of late Thursday and that he could not release any other details.

The nature center is a non-profit, independent, member-supported nature preserve that features over seven miles of hiking trails in the borough.
