MONROE — What should have been the happiest days for the Gruver family have turned into the fight of their lives.
Earlier this month, Cortney and Chase Gruver received the incredible news that they were expecting their fourth child. Just six days later, doctors discovered a mass in Chase’s neck — a diagnosis that would change everything.
At 39 years old, Chase was told he has anaplastic thyroid cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of the disease. Doctors said it leaves him with only months to live.
“We found out that it was anaplastic thyroid cancer, which is the worst thyroid cancer there is,” Cortney said.
