The West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol now has its Christmas tree.
The 4,500 pound 53-foot high red fir arrived Friday and it came from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It was cut down Oct. 24 and made stops in communities on its way to Washington.
The tree is named Silver Belle and has a 16-foot canopy spread.
"This year, we are honored to host this red fir that made its way all the way from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in the great state of Nevada," said Jim Kaufmann, executive director of U.S. Capitol Grounds and Arboretum.
It's the first tree from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the first from the state of Nevada.
