For 24 years, there has been one name always associated with Colonial High School’s girls basketball.

For 24 years of Grenadiers student-athletes, there is a name held in the highest regard.

That icon is Cindy Richardson.

She has guided Colonial girls basketball to heights it had never seen before — including seven straight district titles from 2012 to 2018, four final four appearances, and two FHSAA state runner-up finishes (2015, 2024).

This week she added another accolade to her hallowed name — 400 career wins.

Richardson’s team opened her 24th season with wins against Lake Nona, 56-12, Boone, 63-40, and Apopka, 58-23. That upped her career record to 400-203.

She is the third Orlando area girls basketball coach to join the 400-win
