NEW CUMBERLAND — The Hancock County Board of Education has named an interim financial officer for the school district, agreeing to begin the process of filling the post.

“The purpose of this meeting is to approve an interim treasurer,” Superintendent Dan Enich said, offering his recommendation for Erin Harvey to fill the spot.

Harvey’s recommendation was unanimously approved by the members of the school board.

The move follows a decision by the board Monday to ratify the suspension and approve the termination of Joe Campinelli, who had held the role of the school district’s director of finance.

Harvey had been attending recent school board meetings to provide the board with financial reports as part of each meeting’s agenda.
