Some Hastings County municipalities are again considering amalgamation but saying they need provincial funding to evaluate the potential pros and cons.

County council’s finance committee – comprised of all councillors – voted Nov. 18 to request a meeting during January’s annual Rural Ontario Municipal Assoc. conference. The goal is to meet with representatives of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline, who in February had raised the amalgamation issue , on Nov. 19 did so once more during a meeting of the county’s finance, property, and personnel committee in Belleville.
