MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont has officially appealed President Trump’s denial of disaster relief funding.

Governor Phil Scott on Friday submitted the formal appeal for damages from the July 10th flooding in Caledonia and Essex Counties.

The governor initially said the state wouldn’t appeal the decision but earlier this month said officials had found more damage that hadn’t been counted initially, causing more than $1.8 million in statewide damage, exceeding the minimum threshold for a Public Assistance disaster declaration.

The appeal is now in FEMA’s hands to review, and then it will be up to President Trump again.
