HOUSTON, Texas – Two days after the Washington Post ranked two of Houston’s roads amongst the highest in pedestrian deaths, the city of Houston said a 73-year-old woman was hit and killed by a vehicle on Friday morning.

Houston police responded to the accident in the 9500 block of Wesheimer Road around 6:20 a.m.

Officers said a Dodge Ram truck was traveling westbound on Westheimer Road when the 74-year-old woman failed to yield the right of way and entered the road. The driver of the Dodge truck hit the woman, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, police said a second vehicle also hit the woman, but that driver did not stop.
