KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — For more than 18 months, a "significant" log jam has restricted the navigable waters of the Lynches River along the Chesterfield-Kershaw County line. The obstruction had become a collection point for trash and debris, altering the river's ability to function as a healthy system and posing risks to boater safety, water quality, and long-term river stability.

This week, crews from South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), Kershaw County, Chesterfield County, South Carolina Office of Resilience, Blanchard Construction, JA Still LLC, Robert Collins LLC, and community volunteers successfully removed the blockage.
