An East Irondequoit high school student was arrested Nov. 21 after he brought an altered airsoft gun to school, police and school officials say.

Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters said officers were called to Eastridge High School Friday morning after school security officials discovered a gun in a student's backpack.

"Upon further inspection, after breaking the gun down, we come to find out it was only an airsoft pistol, but it actually had a real gun magazine with a live round inserted into it," Peters said. "He could pull the magazine out to make it look like it was a real gun."
