Banks: Thanksgiving is a Federal Reserve bank holiday. That means banks will be closed.

Federal and state services: Closed.

City and county offices: Closed.

Malls: Most malls will be closed for Thanksgiving. That includes the Mall of America, Southdale Center, Ridgedale Center, and others. They'll all reopen on Black Friday, and many malls will have extended hours for the shopping holiday.

Grocery stores: Most grocery stores will be closed on Thanksgiving. These chains will be closed nationwide: Target, Sam's Club, Lunds and Byerlys, Kowalski's, Costco, Trader Joe's, and HyVee.
