A 33-year-old Iowa woman will spend four decades in prison for killing her ex-girlfriend, a Minneapolis DJ whose body was found in a vehicle following a crash in southeastern Minnesota.

Margot Lewis received a maximum 40-year sentence on Thursday, two months after she was convicted on two counts of second-degree murder in the death of Liara Tsai, 35.

A Hennepin County jury found Lewis guilty of stabbing Tsai to death last June in Tsai's studio apartment, where Lewis was reportedly staying after flying in from Boston a few days prior. She then attempted to conceal Tsai’s body by wrapping it in bedding, a mattress, and a tarp, before moving Tsai to a car and driving almost two hours southeast, towards Rochester.
