HALTOM CITY, Texas — A man is charged with manslaughter in connection with a crash involving a train and a car in Tarrant County Wednesday that left a 5-year-old boy dead, officials say.
Fort Worth Police say they were called to the scene at Elliot Reeder and Colony Court shortly before 4 p.m., where a Dodge Charger had been hit by a TRE train.
Officials say preliminary information indicates the Charger, which was occupied by the driver, identified as Fabian Riojas, 24, and the child, who are related, tried to go around an activated train barricade to cross the tracks before being hit by the train. Family members tell WFAA Riojas is the boy's uncle.
The child was pronounced dead on the scene, and Riojas was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, officials say. None of the 43 passenger
