According to a report from Punchbowl News, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and a group of fellow Republican legislators are lobbying for President Donald Trump to support a limited short-term extension of Obamacare subsidies.
Britt has reportedly spoken with Trump "several times" this week to "pitch the idea," as the president's endorsement of the Obamacare extension is seen as key to gaining Republican support in both the House and the Senate. The lawmakers contend that an extension would help Republicans in the mid-term elections while also allowing Congress to pass a longer-term health care plan more in line with Trump's agenda.
Complicating matters for Britt and the group, the President has recently expressed fervent opposition to any Obamacare extensions on multiple occasion
