COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said a short chase led to a crash outside an apartment complex Thursday night.

The department said a deputy tried to stop a vehicle on Broad River Road, but the driver did not stop. The deputy then activated their blue lights and the vehicle sped up.

RCSD said a short chase ended when the vehicle stopped at the dead end of a parking lot off Broad River Road and Riverhill Circle. The scene remained active, and the department said an investigation is ongoing.

The suspect’s vehicle was seen wrecked near the sign of the Riverwalk Vista apartment complex. It’s unclear if anyone was hurt.
