The Heisman race just flipped the thermostat to scorching. Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza keeps stacking highlight reels, dropping another statement game in Week 12 with a 31–7 beatdown of Wisconsin. The Cal transfer has the Hoosiers sitting at a spotless 11–0, but with Indiana on a Week 13 bye, Mendoza’s momentum could hit a brief speed bump.

Not that he’s lacking a signature moment, that game-winning drive against Penn State, capped by Omar Cooper Jr.’s full-blown circus catch on Nov. 8, might already be his Heisman trailer.

But has anyone truly separated from the pack heading into Week 13 of the 2025 slate? Hard to say, the Heisman committee loves a little fourth-quarter drama.
