Ceremonial puck drops almost never make news, but one definitely did in Belarus. During a KHL game, a police dog suddenly bit a player’s glove and wouldn’t let go, making everyone surprised.

Dinamo Minsk was hosting CSKA Moscow on Thursday. Everything looked normal as players lined up at center ice for the usual pregame photo and puck drop. Then things took a strange turn.

CSKA’s Pavel Karnaukhov and Minsk’s Andrei Stas stood ready with a police K-9 beside them. Without warning, the dog lunged, first grabbing Karnaukhov’s jersey. A second later, it clamped down on Stas’ glove and held tight, leaving fans stunned and laughing in disbelief.
