BATTLE CREEK – It was just a few years ago that the knock on the Birmingham Detroit Country Day volleyball team was that it couldn’t win “the big one.”
That seemed to change in 2024 when the Yellowjackets claimed their first-ever Division 2 state championship. But, that reputation has certainly changed in 2025.
Now being the hunted, top-ranked Country Day has taken everyone’s best shot this postseason. That included dropping the first set in two playoff matches, only to rally to win.
That occurred again in Friday’s D2 semifinal with No. 3 Grand Rapids Christian, but the Yellowjackets once again kept their poise, and found a way to win the next three sets – all by two points – to advance to Saturday’s championship match with a 18-25, 30-28, 2
