Angel, the emaciated dog the Humane Society of Monroe County set up a GoFundMe for , died on Thursday, Nov. 20. According to a Facebook post from the Humane Society, her blood tests had gotten worse and she had lost weight, weighing only 15 pounds.

"Her body simply has been through too much and cannot recover," the post read. "We knew when we tried this that as bad as Angel's condition was it was going to be a day-to-day struggle."

The post said that after a long talk with veterinarians about what it would take to make her healthy again, they decided that it wouldn't be fair to put Angel through the procedures she would need to endure for so long. In her final moments, she was given canned food and plenty of snacks.

"She was comforted and loved," the post read.
