TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — In one of the most visible acts of protest during the redistricting battle over the summer, State Rep. Nicole Collier, D-District 95, slept on the House floor rather than sign a permission slip that allowed Democrats who broke quorum to leave the chamber, but with a police escort.
Three months later, almost to the day, a three-judge panel struck down the congressional map lawmakers passed in an attempt to give Republicans five additional seats in the U.S. House.
