TEXAS, USA — First elected in 2014, Sid Miller is now looking to secure his fourth term as Texas Agriculture Commissioner.
And the one Republican opponent Miller’s drawn so far, Nate Sheets – founder of Nature Nate’s Honey - is a former donor.
“He’s not really an ag guy. He doesn’t have an ag background. He’s kind of a one trick pony. He’s a honey distributor and that’s about his only connection to agriculture,” Miller told us on Inside Texas Politics .
Like most of the races in the Republican primary, an endorsement by President Donald Trump would immediately move the meter in that candidate’s direction. While Miller has long touted himself as “Trump’s man in Texas,” the President has yet to pick a side.
Texas’ next Ag Commissioner will have their work cut out for them.
