CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Connecting all of West Virginia is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced a statewide broadband development plan that is intended to connect more that 73,000 unserved or underserved West Virginians to high-speed internet.

“I think this technological upgrade is going to connect every single corner of West Virginia and facilitate the job opportunities we need,” Morrisey said.

The governor said based on January 2025 statistics from the Marshall University Center for Business and Economic Research, there could be up to 1,500 immediate jobs.

Based on the same statistics, the long-term projection could result in another 7,000 jobs.
