COLUMBUS — Members of the Ohio General Assembly sent four significant property tax reform bills to Gov. Mike DeWine’s desk ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

During marathon sessions on Wednesday, the Ohio House and Ohio Senate approved House Bill 186, House Bill 335, House Bill 309, and House Bill 129 after the Senate Local Government Committee made changes to all four pieces of legislation.

H.B. 186, which authorizes a property tax credit for property owners in a school district on the 20-mill floor, was amended to increase the 2.5 percent credit for owner-occupied residential property to 15.38 percent over four years. The credit will increase to 5.7 percent in 2026, 8.92 percent in 2027, 12.15 percent in 2028, and 15.38 percent in 2029.
