NEENAH, Wis. (WBAY) - A Neenah woman who once received the gift of life is now in need of another miracle. Her story shines a light on the growing need for living kidney donors in Wisconsin, and the families waiting for a second chance.

“Why is it so important to get this kidney?” Action 2 News Samantha Cavalli asked Kathie Boyette.

“Because without it, I’ll die,” answered Kathie.

It’s a stark reality for thousands across the country, and for Kathie Boyette, that reality is back again. After finding out the kidney her husband derrick donated is now failing.

“I was broken because my husband went through that sacrifice to give me that kidney and it only worked for 6 years,” said Kathie.

For Derrick and Kathie, the decline has been emotionally and physically overwhelming.
