A record number of Americans are set to travel for the upcoming holiday. According to AAA, nearly 82 million Americans will venture at least 50 miles between Tuesday and the following Monday, most in celebration of Thanksgiving.
Even though the government shutdown is over and air travel is mostly back to normal, the majority of folks heading out of town are driving. Luckily for their wallets, gas prices nationally are about the same as they were last turkey day.
“Gas prices, we have found at AAA, don't motivate people to jump behind the wheel and go on a road trip, and also don't necessarily keep people home when gas prices are high," AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz said. "But it's something that people have to factor into their trips. People are going to go regardless.
