TORONTO — Canadians who bought or drank recalled plant-based milk linked to a listeria outbreak have reached a $6.5-million settlement with Danone Canada, Wal-Mart Canada Corp., and Intact Insurance Company.

The settlement is tied to a listeria outbreak that led to a national recall of several Silk and Great Value plant-based milk products in July 2024.

The Public Health Agency of Canada said 20 illnesses were reported and three people died in the outbreak.

The Superior Court of Quebec authorized the class action on Nov. 17, subject to settlement approval hearing in Montreal on Jan. 26, 2026.
