The NTSB released a preliminary report on a deadly plane crash that claimed the lives of three members of a Huntsville family .
Mark, Lainey, and Ellie Anderson were killed in October when their plane went down in a remote, mountainous region of Montana.
According to the preliminary report, the twin-engine plane crashed around 4:15 p.m. MDT on Oct. 17. The report states that moments before then, the pilot of the aircraft reported concerns about icing. The pilot later informed air traffic control that he was unable to maintain altitude because of icing and an issue with the left engine. Air Traffic Control then lost contact with the plane.
Investigators say they located the crash site on Oct. 18 in mountainous terrain near Youngs Creek within the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
