UPDATE: Just before 5:40 p.m. Friday, Huntsville Police say the westbound lane of University Drive in the area has since reopened.

Huntsville Police are asking drivers to use alternate routes after a wreck on University Drive Friday night.

Shortly after 5:15 p.m. Friday, Huntsville Police said that two of the westbound lanes in the area of University Drive and Perimeter Parkway are shut down.

Drivers are asked to use caution in the area as emergency crews respond to the wreck.
