LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Longview Fire Department saved a man who fell off the side of I-20 as a result of a car wreck Thursday.

The wreck happened just before 8:50 p.m., which is when the Longview Fire Department’s Special Operations teams responded to the wreck on Interstate 20. When they arrived, crews discovered that one of the victims had fallen approximately 40 feet from an elevated section of the interstate.

A high-angle rescue operation was immediately begun. Special Ops personnel rapidly rappelled to the victim’s location, provided emergency medical care, and established rope systems to safely hoist him back up to the roadway. The victim was successfully removed and transferred to CHRISTUS EMS for further medical treatment.
