TEXAS – The Houston chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Houston), alongside Texas State Rep. Ron Reynolds and a broad coalition of community partners, held a joint press conference on Friday to respond to Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent proclamation targeting CAIR.
Gov. Abbott’s Nov. 18 proclamation declared the Texas chapter of CAIR — a long-running American civil rights group — a “foreign terrorist organization.”

The proclamation also threatened civil penalties if the group continued its work in the state.
