DALLAS — Well, it could be worse. But it was a slightly bumpy start to the holiday travel season Friday in North Texas.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport led the world in cancellations Friday morning, and American Airlines led all airlines in the same category.

DFW had 69 departing flights canceled by 6 a.m., while 102 flights heading to DFW Airport were also canceled, according to FlightAware . There were also a few dozen delays. American, the Fort Worth-based airline, had 158 cancellations across its network Friday morning.

The cancellations and delays made DFW an early leader on FlightAware's "Misery Map" index Friday. Part of the issues could have been left over from Thursday's weather -- persistent rain all day Thursday had delays and cancellations ticking up in North Tex
