KINGSTON, N.Y. — The trial of Christopher Baldner ended Friday, when jurors said they were unable to reach a verdict on the sole remaining count against the former state trooper for the Dec. 22, 2020, death of 11-year-old Monica Goods.

At 4:12 p.m. on Friday, the nine-man, three-woman jury sent its final note to Ulster County Judge Bryan Rounds, stating that after more than 23 hours of deliberations, they had “exhausted all avenues to reach a unanimous verdict.”

Jurors on Thursday found Baldner not guilty of second-degree murder and three counts of reckless endangerment for the car crash in which the 11-year-old Brooklyn girl was killed following a high-speed chase on the state Thruway. He was also found not guilty of three counts of reckless
