LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is ramping up traffic enforcement under new leadership, and deputies say community complaints are driving the change.
If you’re driving around Jefferson County, you may notice more sheriff’s deputies pulling people over, particularly in areas where residents have repeatedly voiced concerns.
"What we’re going to be investigating is what you’re complaining about," said Chief Deputy Steve Healey.
Under Sheriff David James, the department is building out several new units: a dedicated traffic unit, a Community Action Response Team, and a community engagement team, all designed to respond more directly to what the public says it needs.
