SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Missourians got blasted with text messages reading “I GOT FOOLED,” asking them to rescind their signatures on a petition.
A text blast funded by the Republican National Committee encourages people to withdraw their signatures from a petition challenging the new congressional map, claiming signature gatherers are using deceptive tactics. If you received the text, it doesn’t necessarily mean you signed the petition. The text was sent to many people with Missouri phone numbers and does not appear to target any Missourians in particular.
If the petition gathers enough signatures, Missouri voters will decide whether or not to enact the new congressional map. To qualify for the November 2026 general election ballot, the campaign must collect signatures from at least 5%
