WILLIAMSPORT — The current vice president will remain on Williamsport City Council for another four years after winning a tie-breaker.
Republican Eric Beiter and Democrat April Line participated in a drawing Friday because each received 2,415 votes in the recent general election.
The tie-breaking procedure, as required by state law, was for each to pick a number with the lowest winning. Beiter picked 114 and Line 127. The tin from which they drew contained numbers 100 to 200.
“Relieved. It’s finally over,” was Beiter’s reaction. There is a lot of work to be done on City Council in the next two years before the next election, he said.
He commented about the number of people who since the election told him they had not voted.
