FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Arizona's ski season is officially underway and thousands are heading to the mountains after a week of massive snowfall brought ideal conditions to Arizona Snowbowl.
The resort opened a day early after receiving 47 inches of snow this week alone, creating what skiers and snowboarders are calling one of the best season openers in recent memory.
"This is a crazy opening day. Never seen anything like this before," said one snowboarder hitting the slopes.
Angie Grubb, marketing manager at Arizona Snowbowl, said the resort couldn't pass up the opportunity to open early.
"We did open Thursday for a bonus early opening day; the conditions were just too good to keep it closed," Grubb said.
