PLYMOUTH, Mass. —
The float barn in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is a busy place as a team of float builders makes their last-minute scramble to the finish line.
Their finish line, of course, is the starting line of the 30th annual America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration parade.
"It's a national holiday. It's Thanksgiving. But it began here," said the parade's executive director, Olly DeMacedo.
For the 27th year in a row, DeMacedo has led the all-volunteer effort. And every year, he and his team are tasked with coming up with fresh ideas for the nearly 25 floats that will be wowing the crowds both on the parade route and on television.
"Listen, I live in America. There's an endless treasure trove of things and stories to tell," he said.
