A teenager is dead after the electric dirt bike he was riding Friday in Stoneham, Massachusetts, was hit by a car.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office said the 13-year-old boy was hit around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Oak Street and Royal Street.

The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the 73-year-old driver of a Toyota Corolla was turning left onto Royal Street to Oak Street at the time of the crash. They did not say whether charges would be filed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
