Former Appalachian State and Dallas Cowboys great Dexter Coakley once said had he seen the Marshall football program while a high school senior, rather than canceling his visit, he'd have signed with the Thundering Herd.

Coakley might be the only person every in Boone, North Carolina, to express a fondness for Marshall.

Marshall (5-5) visits the Mountaineers (4-6) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Despite most students being home for the Thanksgiving holiday, Appalachian State fans likely will offer plenty of choice words for the Herd.
