Churchill has pulled two upsets in the first two rounds of the Oregon high school football state playoffs, and as a result the Lancers find themselves in the OSAA 5A state semifinals.
After knocking off No. 4 Lebanon (21-8) and No. 5 Thurston (33-23) in a pair of road wins, No. 13 Churchill meets No. 1 Summit in the Statesman Journal Game of the Week at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at Willamette University in Salem.
The Lancers (8-3) finished ties for second with Crater in 5A Special District 2 (Midwestern League) play at 5-2, but Churchill is the Midwestern's last team standing.
Summit (11-0) has defeated No. 16 Gresham (57-10) and No. 9 West Albany (14-13) in the playoffs. The Storm are joined in the semis by Intermountain Conference rival Mountain View, the No. 3 seed, which faces No. 2 Si
