ROSEBURG, Ore. - Downtown Roseburg is gearing up for the holiday season, and community organizers are calling for volunteers to help with decorations.
According to City Councilor Zack Weiss, in partnership with Destination Downtown Roseburg, volunteers are needed to install about 30 holiday wreaths downtown on Sunday, Nov. 23. Helpers can meet at the parking lot at Jackson and Douglas Avenue at 1 p.m.
"We will absolutely put them to work," said Weiss.
The city has approved $5,000 for holiday lights, and local businesses are providing equipment to assist with stringing 6,000 feet of lights on Nov. 30, prior to the Douglas County Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
Destination Downtown Roseburg is also accepting donations for future lighting expansions. Email city councilor Zack Weiss f
