A section of Route 322 in Lebanon and Lancaster counties is closed Friday evening after a fatal head-on collision, according to a PennDOT spokesperson.
Around 5:15 p.m., an SUV and tanker truck collided head-on near South Mountain Lane, causing the tanker truck to spill fuel on the road.
As of 6:30 p.m., about 500 gallons of fuel had spilled, making the crash a hazmat incident, PennDOT said.
The Route 322 closure is between PA 72 and PA 501, which extends into Lancaster County. PennDOT is unsure how long the road will remain closed.
It is unclear which vehicle the person who died was in. There is no word on any other injuries.
