MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a man is facing murder and animal cruelty charges after a deadly shooting in Madisonville.

According to MCSO, deputies responded to a call about a violent disturbance between neighbors on Big Creek Road at around 12:30 a.m. on Friday.

There, deputies with MCSO determined that Gregory Scott Williams shot his neighbor, identified as Adam McGill, during a dispute about an animal.

Williams was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated burglary to a residence and aggravated animal cruelty.

“The loss of Mr. McGill is tragic. We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones as they navigate this heartbreaking time,” MCSO said in a news release.
