CROCKETT, Texas (KTRE) - A man who was fleeing law enforcement in Houston County fatally shot himself after wrecking out, the Crockett Police Department revealed in a statement Friday night.

According to police, at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Friday, a Crockett patrol officer assisting the Houston County Sheriff’s Office with an ongoing investigation attempted a traffic stop on Durrett Drive at West Goliad Avenue. The vehicle was being operated by a known suspect wanted out of Houston County for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child.
