KNOXVILLE, Iowa ( WOI ) - Officials are investigating after an infant was found unresponsive Friday morning in central Iowa.

The Marion County sheriff’s office and Knoxville police responded to reports of an unresponsive infant around 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 1400 block of 110th Place in Knoxville.

Authorities performed life-saving measures upon arrival, but the infant was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is helping with the investigation.
