Pittsburgh Central Catholic had State College’s number for the second consecutive year in the PIAA Class 6A quarterfinals Friday night.
Quarterback Owen Herrick passed for three touchdowns and the WPIAL champions rolled to a 42-21 win against State College at Altoona’s Mansion Park Stadium.
Central Catholic (12-1) advanced to play Harrisburg (13-0) in next weekend’s semifinals. That’s another rematch: Central Catholic defeated Harrisburg, 38-33, in last year’s PIAA semifinals.
State College, the champions of District 6, capped its year 10-3.
The Vikings shot out to a 34-7 halftime lead. The Vikings held a 42-7 lead when State College found the end zone twice in the final quarter.
