RUSK, Texas (KLTV) - For the first time in school history, the Edgewood Bulldogs are going to the third round of the high school playoffs.
The Woodville Eagles and the Edgewood Bulldogs squared off at Eagle Stadium in Rusk Friday night in the area round of the playoffs.
An offensive outburst, led by Trevor Golightly’s five touchdowns, and timely defense gave Edgewood the 59-56 win.
Edgewood got the ball to begin the game and drove 73 yards in nine plays and scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Lucas Pippin to put the Bulldogs ahead 7-0. The lead was short lived however, as Woodville drove 76 yards in eight plays and scored on a 24-yard passing touchdown from quarterback Luke Babin to Gage Tolar to tie the game at 7.
