The Central Catholic football team had a rematch in Friday's PIAA quarterfinals and will have another rematch in next week's semifinals after posting a convincing victory.
The Vikings traveled to Altoona's Mansion Park to face District 6 champion State College in a rematch of last year's quarterfinals and posted a 42-21 victory, which is very similar to last year's score of 41-19.
It's Central Catholic's 20th victory in PIAA competition and gives the Vikings an 8-1 record in quarterfinal games.
More importantly, the victory earns Central Catholic (12-1) a berth in next week's semifinals against Harrisburg, another familiar opponent. The Vikings defeated Harrisburg 38-33 in last year's semifinals then went on to lose in the title match to St. Joseph's Prep.
