Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders saw his first official NFL action when he was thrust into the fire for the injured Dillon Gabriel, and things didn’t go great.

Sanders completed just 4-of-16 passes for 47 yards and an interception while getting sacked twice in relief of Gabriel, but with his fellow-rookie still in concussion protocol, will get his first opportunity to start in Week 12 against Las Vegas. While he’s the third quarterback to start for Cleveland this season, he said he hopes to prove that he can be the starter going forward.

“I would be doing a disservice to myself and to the organization if I didn’t feel like I’m the guy. I’m doing everything I need to prepare to be the best version of myself as possible,” he said .
