SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Outdoor festival season in the Valley has hit a snag as wet weather dampened several planned weekend events, forcing at least one outdoor concert to cancel.

But Panda Fest , a nationwide tour celebrating Asian culture with dozens of food vendors, merchandise booths and live performances, remains determined to stay open at Salt River Fields despite the muddy conditions.

Panda Fest founder BiuBiu Xu described her August visit to Salt River Fields as much drier than current conditions.

“I still remember that day, it was 120 degrees,” Xu said. “So to be honest, our team is a little shocked.”

Xu’s team developed a plan to deal with the wet conditions, including laying plywood and spreading sand to cover the grass.
